Chocolate Cake

½ cup margarine or butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
¼ cup cocoa
¼ cup margarine or butter
3 cups flour
2½ tsp baking powder
1½ tsp baking soda
2 cups cold water
1 tsp vanilla
½ tsp salt

In a large bowl combine margarine and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl mix cocoa into ¼ cup melted butter, then add to the sugar mixture. Combine all the dry ingredients with the sugar mixture. Add flour to the sugar mixture; alternating with cold water.

Grease two (2) 9” round pans and lightly dust with flour. Cut out wax paper circle and place on the bottom of the pans. Pour ½ of the batter into each pan. Bake at 350F for 40 minutes.
