Almond Puff

Almond Puff Base

½ cup butter
1 cup flour
2 Tbsp water

Cut ½ cup butter into 1 cup of flour.  Sprinkle 2 Tbsp. Of water over mixture and mix with a fork.  Round into a ball and cut into 2 even pieces.  On an ungreased pan, spread out dough balls into 12″x3″ strips.

1 cup water
1 tsp almond extract
1 cup flour
3 eggs
confectioner’s sugar
chopped nuts

In a medium sauce pan, heat ½ cup butter and 1 cup water to a rolling.  Remove from heat and quickly stir in almond extract and 1 cup of flour.  Stir vigourously over low heat until mixture forms a ball (about 1 min).  Remove from heat.  Beat in eggs until smooth.  Devide in half and spread over the top of the strips.

Bake for 60 min or until golden brown at 350oF.

Icing

1½ cup confectioner’s sugar
2 tbsp butter
1-1½ tsp. almond extract
1-2 Tbsp. warm water

Mix all the ingredients together until smooth icing is achieved.  Spread over cooled almond puffs.
